About Jennifer

Most recently I played on two seasons of the DC Comic television series BLACK LIGHTENING, on The CW, as the evil Dr. Helga Jace. I thoroughly enjoyed the role and exploring the dark undercurrents and lengthsto which the character would go to achieve her goals. I got to work with a variety of guest directors which made it truly a Master Class of who's who in Hollywood. Remaining, prepared, inspired, focus and professional is a skillset I learned in my training. Some other favorite roles I played were on such fan favorites such as House of Cards, Castle, Law & Order, Criminal Minds, Monk, among others.

When not acting or teaching I find inspiration taking hikes in nature, rockhounding on waterfronts and along mountains, reading, people watching in cafes, weekend road trips and listening to music.

About the lesson

Hand tailoring each lesson to specifically meet each student where they are in their process, I teach script analysis, scene study, Monologue work, Understanding your brand and what you are selling, How to take a meeting with an agent, Auditioning, and much more. I teach all ages and all skill levels.

I have an MFA from Yale School of Drama and have taught at the University level, On Camera Acting for FSU's College of Motion Picture Arts to MFA Directing students and BFA Acting students. I have also been a K-12 Drama teacher at Private School in Atlanta, GA.

What sets me apart is that I am teaching not only from an academic study of the profession but as someone who has been a working actor since I was a teen. I have been exposed to many of the most popular styles of acting from Stanislavsky, UtahHagen, Stella Adler, and Sanford Meisner. In my Masters Program I studied Chekhov, Strindberg, Moliere, Shakespeare and Ibsen.

I can teach for the theatre and for the screen. Depending on the focus of the student we work to ensure that the student is making bold, inspired and text based choices and finds ones own voice as opposed to that of the teacher. I am interested in training thinking actors who have autonomy and do not rely on the director or teacher to give them what they need.
