About Joe

Hi, I’m a bass guitarist and music tutor with a strong classical and jazz background, offering personalised online lessons for students of all levels.

I completed my undergraduate studies as a scholar at the Royal College of Music on classical guitar, before earning my master’s degree in jazz bass at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

As a performer, I’ve played at many of London’s leading venues, including Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Live Soho, the Royal Albert Hall and many more.
I’ve also performed in theatres across London’s West End, and I’m currently touring as part of the Legally Blonde UK Tour.

About the lesson

What my lessons offer:
• Clear, structured guidance tailored to your goals - with midweek check-ins for feedback on practice and progression
• Support for beginners through to advanced players
• Technique, groove, timing, tone, reading, and theory made accessible
• Mastery of the fretboard
• Ear training and transcription
• Developing Jazz language and confident improvising across all genres
• learning and retaining repertoire
• Composition and finding your voice
• True understanding of your gear and how to master it for the tone you want
• Options to study jazz, classical foundations, contemporary styles, or repertoire you love
• A friendly, encouraging teaching environment
• theatre-specific pit playing and how to successfully operate in the theatre industry
• providing you with a watertight method to be your own teacher
• Online lessons via Zoom (or in-person if local)

Whether you’re starting bass for the first time, preparing for auditions, improving musicianship, solidifying technique, or wanting to develop confidence and creativity, I’d love to help you progress.

Feel free to get in touch to book a lesson or ask any questions — I look forward to working with you!
