About Mary

Additional points of introduction:
I have extensive professional and life experience including raising two amazing stepchildren, Dawn and Donnie. I’m the oldest of 5 children in my family of origin and grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin. My husband, Walter Matthew Meza, is a Vietnam Veteran and retired Substance Abuse Counselor. I am an animal lover and now have 3 rescue cats: Noche, Orphan Annie and Paco!

About the lesson

THE LESSON STARTS WITH THE TEACHER:

My love of reading began when I was a child. My father was a college reference librarian and my birthday gifts always included a book! In college, I double majored in Nursing and Spanish followed by further studies in Mexico. I love the Mexican culture and can read, write, and converse in Spanish.

Most of my career was spent working with children & adolescents! I was a school nurse at Mathis ISD and then a charge nurse on a children’s psych unit at Padre Behavioral Hospital. My 7 years working at College Misericordia (Dallas, PA) included teaching both Nursing and Leadership.

MY MESSAGE TO PARENTS— I have the skills to not only tutor your child, adolescent or young adult in reading and writing but ALSO to deal with their related feelings and struggles. My philosophy is holistic i.e. I tutor the whole young person so that their learning experience is LIFE CHANGING!
