About Maria

Maria’s musical journey started when she was 5 years old at the Municipal Music School of Tremp (Spain), with her violin teacher Jordi Casals, with whom she finished her Junior Conservatoire training. To continue her violin studies, she went to Barcelona to start an Undergraduate Degree in violin in the Superior Conservatory of the Liceu, with the help of the Scholarship Young Promises of the Fundació Ferrer Salat. Those years allowed her to train with recognised teachers and perform in masterclasses with renowned professors such as Lucas Hagen, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, Gonçal Comellas. In 2020 she graduated from a Masters programme in Violin Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, under the tutelage of Ruth Crouch, where she was awarded 1st prize in the Hilda Bailey Violin competition, 1st prize and audience prize at the CAVATINA Competition, 1st prize in the Mabel Glover String Quartet Competition and the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music at the RCS. Since living in Scotland she has collaborated with SCO, BBC SSO, RSNO and Scottish Ensemble and is a String Instructor in Primary Schools for Glasgow Council.

About the lesson

My aim is to make violin lessons fun and engaging. My style of teaching prioritises students’ needs and desires, guiding them through to the next step in their musical journey. The pedagogical methods I use when teaching violin are Suzuki, Galamian, and Flesch. Using different methods allows the student to create a space where each student will find their own creative voice through music. I offer lessons for all ages and skill levels in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions.
