About Hannah
I have been privately teaching woodwinds and general music for about 5 years. I am a graduate of Rutgers University, BM in Bassoon Performance and BA in Psychology, and am now pursuing my MM at Stony Brook University. I have experience performing orchestral, band, chamber, solo and opera repertoire, and frequently play with regional orchestras. I co-founded the New Jersey-based woodwind trio "Reed Theory" -- a contemporary chamber group that focuses on uplifting underrepresented artists, performing new music and commissioning compositions from young composers. As the bassoonist of "Reed Theory", I was a first prize recipient of the Prima Volta Music Competition - Summer Edition and bronze prize recipient of the American Classical Music Awards. I have also worked as a Children's Library Assistant the past few years, honing my skills working with children and their families through story times and other library events.

I see lessons as a way to foster growth in students not just as young musicians, but as individuals. Learning music has many transferable skills, like time management, patience, and dedication, which I strive to make my students proficient at. I focus on all aspects of musicianship: scales and fundamentals, ensemble playing (school band/orchestra), and solo playing (etudes, solos, etc). I teach beginners through intermediate pre-college students, children and adults alike. I have experience working with students with developmental disabilities as well.
