About Kiran

Hi, I’m Kiran! I’m a Psychology graduate with a BSc in Psychology and an MRes in Human Cognitive Neuroscience.

Psychology has been a major part of my academic journey, and I particularly enjoy making topics that initially seem complicated feel much more manageable. Having studied Psychology from undergraduate through to postgraduate level, I understand both the subject itself and the challenges that can come with remembering studies, evaluating theories, understanding research methods and knowing exactly what exam questions are asking for.

Alongside my academic background, I have experience working with children and young people in education, including supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. This has helped me develop a patient and adaptable approach, as I understand that everyone learns differently and sometimes a topic simply needs to be explained in a different way.

I aim to create a friendly and comfortable environment where students never feel embarrassed about asking questions or saying that they don't understand something. I want my students to leave each lesson feeling more confident in their knowledge and more capable of tackling Psychology independently.

Whether you're aiming for a particular grade, preparing for an exam or simply finding Psychology difficult at the moment, I'll work with you at your own pace and help you build your confidence along the way.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to make Psychology easier to understand, remember and apply, especially when it comes to exams and essay questions. I adapt each lesson to the student, so we can focus on the areas they find most difficult rather than following the same approach for everyone.

I like to break complicated theories, studies and concepts into simple steps and use real-life examples to make them easier to understand. We can work through exam questions together, practise essay structure, improve evaluation skills and look at how to turn psychological knowledge into strong answers that meet the mark scheme. I also use questions throughout the lesson to check understanding rather than simply talking at the student.

Lessons will typically last around 60 minutes, although this can be adapted depending on the student's needs.

I have a BSc in Psychology and an MRes in Human Cognitive Neuroscience, where I developed a much deeper understanding of areas including cognitive, biological, developmental and clinical psychology, as well as psychological research methods and statistics. I also have experience working with children and young people with different learning needs, which has taught me the importance of being patient, encouraging and flexible in the way I explain things.

My lessons are mainly aimed at GCSE and A-Level Psychology students, whether you are struggling with a particular topic, preparing for exams, trying to improve your essay writing or simply want to feel more confident in Psychology.

Most importantly, I want my lessons to feel relaxed and supportive. You should be able to ask questions, get things wrong and tell me when something doesn't make sense – we'll find another way of explaining it until it does.
