About Nicholas
Hi! I’m Nicholas Ricciardi (Nick is also ok!), a psychology student with a strong interest in education, learning differences, and helping kids thrive both academically and emotionally. While I’m new to professional tutoring, I’ve spent years studying how people learn—especially students with IEPs, ADHD, autism, and other unique needs. I offer structured, supportive, and engaging lessons for elementary and middle school students. My goal is to make learning feel approachable, build confidence, and give both students and parents the support they may not always get in the classroom. I believe that with patience, clear guidance, and a little creativity, every student can succeed. I’m excited to start this journey and bring everything I’ve learned in psychology into meaningful, personalized teaching. If you're looking for a tutor who's empathetic, flexible, and genuinely invested in your child's progress—I’d love to work with you!

- Children with an IEP/Other learning disability
As someone who is studying psychology (and has been for the past 6-7 years) and autism, I have a deep understanding and sympathy for those with learning disabilities, which allows me to show patience with students. My goal is to help both the student and the parent through school, as sometimes the education system does not provide enough for our students.
Let’s help your child feel seen, understood, and capable.
Typically lessons will follow a simple structure:
1. Warm-Up / Welcome (5 mins)
-Greet the student by name with energy and warmth.
-Quick check-in: “How are you today?” or “How was your week?”
-Short review of the last lesson.
-State the goal for today’s session clearly.
2. Introduction to New Material (10–15 mins)
-Present the new concept using:
-A short video or visual aid (PowerPoint, whiteboard drawing).
-Real-world examples or relatable analogies.
-Check for understanding: “Does that make sense so far?”
-Encourage note-taking or give a quick tip on how to remember it.
3. Guided Practice (15–20 mins)
-Work through 2–3 examples together, step-by-step.
-Use screen sharing, drawing tools, or collaborative platforms (like Jamboard, Google Docs).
-Encourage the student to talk through their thinking.
-Give positive reinforcement and gentle corrections as needed.
4. Independent Practice (10–15 mins)
-Student attempts problems on their own (you observe silently or help if stuck).
-Ask open-ended questions to help them self-correct.
-Go over each answer briefly and correct misconceptions.
5. Wrap-Up and Review (5–10 mins)
-Summarize what they learned using student’s own words.
-Assign light practice or homework if applicable.
-Preview next session: “Next time, we’ll tackle ___.”
