About Lewis

As a psychology graduate and researcher with a master’s degree from the University of Liverpool I am passionate about making psychology engaging and easy to understand. I help students see how theories and studies connect to real life - answering the 'so what?' that is so often left unanswered.
With a background in psychology, forensic psychology, and counselling skills — plus hands-on experience in research and data analysis — I bring lessons to life with creative examples and clear explanations of tricky topics like statistics and research methods.
I have experience working with young people and young adults, from ages 9 to 18 years old. I am able to tailor my teaching style to your individual needs whilst maintaining a consistent, quality approach to teaching across my students. Previous examples include students that have gone from a D to a B in exams during their time working with me.

About the lesson

I have a warm, clear, down-to-earth teaching style, helping you build confidence and a genuine interest for your topic. Using examples that are meaningful to you, I will bring concepts and topics to life through simplistic explanations and deep dives when you are ready. I will help you apply this critical knowlede to scenarios like exams. Previous lesson examples include creating bespoke study plans, tracking progress in real-time together, and practicing assessment questions in real-time with immediate feedback.
Typically, lessons last 50 minutes as this is the best format for a lot of students' attention spans. I like to take an individual approach to my teaching methodology which is why the first session is so important, I always take into account individual's preferred learning styles and over the course of our tutoring sessions you will hopefully see this pay-off. However, I know that at GCSE and A-level stages, learning is all geared towards exams and the best way to do well in exams is to actually learn how to do an exam, and this has been the big success with my past students - they've felt more prepared and confident to plan and tackle exam questions. I will help you develop ways to feel confident to show the examiners what you can do.

Whilst my rates are highly competitive for quality tuition, it's not just the 50 minute session that you are paying for. For '£32 p/h' you receive a 50 minute session, crafted revision notes, exam question feedback, and contact time in between sessions. These are all factored into the rate that you see!
