About Alana

Hi, I am a 3rd year psychology student at the University of Liverpool. I have a great passion for this subject, and wish to purse a carer in Forensic and Investigative psychology. Outside of university I volunteer with multiple charities, working with a range of individuals, and needs. I am also an avid musician, playing both violin and piano to a grade 8 standard, and singing in a punk/ rock band.
I have previously worked in a teaching base as a teaching assistant, and currently work at a GP surgery. Communication is very important to me, and this is something that will have a strong presence in my teaching. I have also had tutors myself, so know from first-hand experience what support a student may need.

About the lesson

I offer lessons for psychology A Level students, wishing to receive extra support outside of the classroom. Lessons can be anywhere from 45mins to 2hrs long, depending on the concentration and learning-style of the individual. Students would come to the class with any areas they find difficult, and we would work through these in detail, at a pace that suits the individual. Through these lessons, I would also be able to offer real-world context to the aspect of A Level teaching, something you rarely find in the classroom. From experience, this helps contextualise the theory or concept, and makes it more 'real'. My course also extensively covers statistics in psychology, so strong support would also be offered in this area.

Although I do not have experience teaching A Level psychology, I have previously volunteered as a teaching assistant at a learning base, and also offer music lessons to students. I am also actively involved in research in the field of psychology, currently working on my dissertation, which explores a link between memory impairments and homelessness. I also volunteer a lot in my spare time, working with a range of charities.
