About Olivia
I am passionate about Psychology because it helps us understand people, behaviour and everyday life in a deeper way. I am averaging a first at university level, so I am very confident and qualified to teach psychology content. One of the things I enjoy most about the subject is being able to apply theories and studies to real situations, which has really helped both me and my peers understand the content more clearly. I would love to help students experience that same interest and confidence.
As a tutor, I want my students to succeed, but I also want them to feel genuinely engaged with what they are learning. I understand that Psychology can sometimes feel overwhelming because there is a lot of content, key terminology and exam technique to remember. My aim would be to make the subject feel more manageable, relatable and enjoyable.
I would describe myself as patient, supportive and enthusiastic. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence over time. My goal is for students to leave sessions feeling more prepared, more capable and more interested in Psychology, both as an exam subject and as something they can apply to day-to-day life.

My lessons are flexible, engaging and tailored to each student. I begin by understanding their current level, exam board, goals and areas of difficulty, then plan sessions around what they need most. I like to make Psychology feel relevant by linking theories and studies to real-life examples and the student’s own interests, helping them stay engaged and remember the content more easily.
I use a mixture of explanation, discussion, quizzes, essay planning, past-paper questions and feedback. For GCSE students, I focus on building confidence with key concepts and exam answers. For A-level students, I would put more emphasis on evaluation, essay structure and applying knowledge effectively. My overall aim would be to create a supportive space where students feel comfortable, motivated and able to improve at their own pace.

Olivia is a natural teacher! she has given me a lot of support for my psychology uni assignments, she is very helpful!
I am pleased to write this reference in support of Olivia's application for a psychology tutoring position. I have known Olivia for approximately two years in my capacity as a Teaching Assistant on her psychology course at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she is currently in her entering into her third year of her Forensic Psychology degree.
In all the time I have known Olivia, her passion for psychology has been immediately evident. She consistently goes beyond the scope of coursework, regularly engaging with current research and psychological theory on her own initiative. What sets her apart is her ability to contextualise what she learns, she has a natural talent for drawing connections between academic concepts and real-world situations, which is an invaluable quality in a tutor position with young people.
Her enthusiasm for forensic psychology in particular demonstrates the depth of her intellectual curiosity. She approaches the subject not simply as a student completing a degree, but as someone who is genuinely invested in understanding the field. This kind of authentic engagement is something young students respond to and find inspiring.
Beyond her academic strengths, Olivia has shown herself to be a confident and thoughtful leader in group settings. During classroom discussions and collaborative projects, she has a natural ability to bring others into the conversation, listen carefully, and communicate ideas with clarity and warmth. These interpersonal skills, combined with her genuine enjoyment of working with young people and teenagers, make her exceptionally well suited to a tutoring role.
I recommend Olivia without hesitation. I am confident she will bring both knowledge and enthusiasm to her students, and I have no doubt she will make a positive impact in this role.View more recommendations
