About Sehanya

Hiya! My name is Sehanya, and I love working with children. I have experience working in multiple nurseries and special needs schools, and I’m excited to continue supporting young learners. I love biology and find it absolutely fascinating, and hope to help you develop that same curiosity and appreciation. No matter how you currently feel about the subject, my goal is to help you gain confidence and develop a solid understanding of the core concepts. From there, everything will start to fall into place naturally. Throughout my years studying biology, I’ve gathered some fantastic resources, and I’d love to share them with you during our sessions.

I believe in making biology engaging and accessible by breaking down complex concepts into simple, relatable ideas. My teaching methodology is student-centred, meaning I adapt my lessons to suit each learner’s needs, whether they require visual aids, interactive discussions, or problem-solving exercises. I incorporate practice questions to reinforce understanding and ensure long-term retention. Lesson Structure & Duration A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, but I can adjust the length based on the student's needs. Sessions generally include: A quick review of previous material to reinforce learning. Introduction of new concepts with clear explanations and examples. A summary and key takeaways to help students retain the material. I have taught in multiple preschool and have worked in schools for children with special needs, which has given me the experience and flexibility of teaching and dealing with learners of varying levels and paces.
