About Nicole

I received all 9s for 13 GCSEs and A*A*A*A for A-levels in English Literature, French, Psychology and Mathematics

Having studied Psychology at GCSE, A-level and now at university, I know this subject from different angles, complexities and exam boards. I can take theories and concepts further, allow you to gain a profound understanding of theories and the scientific methodology, and write more academic pieces of work.

Lessons take place over Zoom and are typically an hour long but can be extended upon request. The first session is introductory so that you have an opportunity to explain what you would like to work on, or so that we can identify areas that need work together if you are unsure. I always ask students to send examples of their work, school resources or materials they use before each lesson so that I can prepare accordingly, and will also plan exercises for you to do in between sessions related to what we cover. These will be marked and addressed in the following session.

I believe it’s important to have semi-structured lessons, meaning that I will have a framework for the hour but if we identify an area that needs more time, or you feel you would like to work on something specific, we incorporate this - the session is yours, and you understand your own needs and pace the best. Results are achieved when these needs are met.

The lessons are of course interactive, I will explain concepts but there are working examples and exercises throughout.

I have been working as a teaching assistant in a number of schools and as a personal tutor for over 6 years, and being in the process of getting a Bachelor’s degree myself I find that it gives me much greater empathy and understanding towards other students, but does not at all diminish my knowledge or capacity to teach. In fact it means that I am up-to-date and highly familiar with the current curriculums, exam boards and exam requirements.

About the lesson

Sessions take place over Zoom and are typically an hour long, but upon request can be extended.
I will always request students to send me material beforehand, including the work that they are covering, notes or resources shared by their teachers so that I have a clear understanding of what they are learning to prepare.
The first session is introductory so that you have a chance to explain what you would like to work on, or if you are unaware of where the issue lies we begin talking through and identifying it together.
Lessons are always interactive and a combination of me explaining concepts but also asking you to perform conjugations, analyse texts etc depending on the subject. I will also provide exercises for you to do in between sessions as practice and homework, which we will analyse together in the next session.
