About Janie
I bring both professional expertise and real-life teaching experience to every lesson. I am a published children’s author, a former Preschool and Pre-K teacher, and a homeschooling mom of three (now grown) children. For nearly five years, I created and implemented curriculum for my classroom, and I also designed individualized grade-level curriculum while homeschooling my daughters. These experiences taught me how to adapt lessons to different learning styles and keep students engaged no matter their age or skill level. Beyond the classroom, I have a strong professional background in healthcare, where I’ve built a reputation for training, clear communication, and attention to detail. As a certified BLS, CPR, and First Aid Instructor, I’m comfortable leading students, explaining complex topics in simple ways, and creating a safe, supportive learning environment. What sets me apart is the combination of teacher, author, professional, and parent — I know how to balance structure with encouragement. Parents can feel confident that lessons will be professional, personalized, and uplifting, and students will discover that writing can be both fun and meaningful.

I believe writing should feel exciting, not intimidating. My approach is to meet each student right where they are and build confidence step by step. I use creative prompts, storytelling games, and guided writing activities that spark imagination while still teaching structure and clarity.
A typical lesson includes a short warm-up exercise, a focused activity based on the student’s goals (such as character development, essay practice, or story building), and time to share and reflect on what they wrote. I give encouraging, constructive feedback so students walk away with both confidence and practical skills they can apply right away.
What sets me apart is that I’m not only a tutor, but also a published children’s author who understands how to make writing fun and meaningful. I know how to turn writing from a “chore” into something a student actually looks forward to.
My lessons are designed for kids and young writers of all levels — whether they’re just learning to put their ideas on paper, want to improve school assignments, or are ready to develop their own creative stories.
