About Judy
I have 12 years of classroom experience teaching middle school and high school English Language Arts, literature, history, social studies, humanities, and writing. I have deep experience working with special needs students, including twice exceptional students--intellectually gifted children who have one or more learning differences. I am a published author and journalist with real-world writing experience.

I work alongside students to read, break apart, and discuss complex historical and literary texts. I ask lots of questions and ask students to think critically. I honor their answers. We make connections to things going on in their lives.
I help them break down the writing process into manageable chunks and paragraphs. We brainstorm on strong starter sentences, organization, and concluding ideas. I provide essay organizers. We edit documents together and I point out ways they can clarify their ideas, be more concise, or elaborate on important points.
What sets me apart? I am a journalist and published author with real-world writing experience that I love sharing with students from middle school through high school. I have experience with diverse learners. I focus on each child's strengths, and with love and compassion, am able to help them achieve success.
