About Julie
I first began teaching as a STEM tutor back in college to first-year science students. The sciences were incredibly challenging and rigorous and many students felt completely lost and were ready to give up and change their major. I loved teaching because it was just that bit of extra support students needed to feel that their specific concerns and questions were heard and being answered. Watching my students go from the bottom of the class to achieving A's and B's was incredible!
I also have experience with English Learners working in the Education Department at a non-profit. I have worked with students who have no English to nearly fluent and have been able to support them regardless of their level.
Lastly, I currently work as a teacher for vocational classes where the English level varies, I am able to adjust a class that is for students of varying degrees so that high level English level students are able to learn and grow while lower-level speaking students are able to keep up with the class and benefit from its materials.

I individualize my lesson plans to each student. I address how information is being presented and the ways of explaining things so that the student is best able to learn. I make sure that information is not memorized but truly understood so that it stays with you long after your exams have passed. My goal is for you to learn and know something so well that you are confident in the material and able to have become better for having learned it; rather, than the material superficially laying in your brain so that not only is it forgotten after your exam, but you are less confident in the material and your ability to learn.
I further motivate students by providing additional support in stress relief, self-assurance and effective ways of studying. I believe every experience is here to teach you much more then bullet points on a page but for you to evolve into a better version of yourself, your learning process is just an example of that.
