About Omar
For the majority of my life, I didn't understand math at all; in fact, I hated it. That changed when I met a super amazing math professor who really emphasized understanding why the math works over memorizing or following some systematic process.
I think that this experience, even though it was only for one semester really shaped my tutoring philosophy. I prioritize and follow a hands-on approach to teaching mathematics.
I have competed in multiple math competitions, most notably reaching the finals in Purple Comet, and LogARhythm.

About the lesson

First, I explain the topic with its proof and its physical meaning. Then, I solve a series of problems of increasing difficulty, each hitting on a different core idea in the concept.
Then I ask the student to solve a set of problems on their own, and if they get stuck, I give them some guidance in solving the problem, however I don't give the solution right away, in order to make them think critically about the question at hand.
I then double-check their work, not only for the final answer, but to make sure that their process is mathematically sound and they understand the physical interpretation of their work.
These lessons are intended for those who are currently struggling in math and are unsure how to improve, and for those who would like to improve their math fluency and proficiency in general.
