About Ryan
I have taught students of all backgrounds and skill levels, and my playing experience has granted me the opportunity to travel and perform abroad. Over the course of my college studies, I have been fortunate enough to participate in a tour of Europe, perform in Brazil, and at the Jack Rudin Jazz Competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC, winning an award for outstanding saxophone section with my ensemble. I have performed as a classical saxophone soloist with an orchestra as part of the Dorothy Jacoby Honors soloist competition, and have performed in a variety of classical settings in addition to my jazz experience.

I have had the good fortune of being taught myself by great teachers ever since I started playing. My lessons involve a mix of all the things I have learned from other teachers over the years. I will address matters of technique, practice strategies, performance preparation, and learning repertoire. I try to focus lessons on learning things that will make my students want to keep playing and practicing, and allowing them to set goals and get better at what they want to focus on. I address both the broader saxophone playing techniques and the nuances and details of both classical and jazz playing.
