About Aaquib
Hello, I'm Aaquib Shamim, pursuing my PhD in Physics at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. My academic journey began with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physics, where I developed a strong foundation in the fundamentals of the field. Seeking to broaden my horizons, I ventured into engineering, completing a Master's program in Material Science. This interdisciplinary experience gave me a unique blend of scientific principles and engineering concepts, enriching my understanding of materials and their applications.
During my academic pursuits, I was selected for the prestigious DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) fellowship, which led me to the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, as an exchange student. This international exposure further fueled my passion for research and academia.
Now, at UNSW, I continue to delve deeper into the realms of physics, exploring new frontiers and contributing to cutting-edge research in my field. My diverse background and experiences have equipped me with a multifaceted perspective, allowing me to approach challenges with creativity and innovation. I am committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and inspiring future generations of scientists and engineers.
A bit about my work: At the Master's level, my research focused on sodium-ion batteries. I delved into the intricacies of energy storage and explored novel materials and techniques to enhance battery performance. This experience deepened my understanding of electrochemical processes and sustainable energy technologies.
Currently, in my PhD studies, I am immersed in the fascinating world of quantum physics. As an experimental physicist, my research explores quantum phenomena and their potential applications. Specifically, I am engaged in developing spin qubits within Silicon CMOS geometry, leveraging the same technology found in everyday devices such as mobile phones and laptops.
