About Agastya

I'm a budding researcher in the field of Computational Neuroscience, and I understand what it means to use programming to achieve a goal.

Programming can be truly empowering, and that is what I want to share with my students. Not only can it enable one to do exactly what they want with a computer, it also makes for an invaluable professional skill. It is also plain fun!

I have good interpersonal skills, and being a recent student myself, I know what doubts and pitfalls people can fall into. I will be there every step of the way. Aside from this, I truly have a passion for teaching and sharing the knowledge that I have gained.

About the lesson

Being a graduate myself, I understand the trepidation younger people may have in learning programming.

Aside from being a professional necessity, programming can help people be better, more logical thinkers. Python is a language that is infinitely extensible : from simple home automation to doing complex research.

My class will be focused on a practical approach to problem solving. I don't believe it is necessary to be a mathematician to be a good programmer. To this end:

1. The class will be divided into theoretical and practical sessions.
2. There will be weekly problem solving assignments that will test comprehension of a topic.
3. Optionally, there can be discussions about contemporary issues and developments in the computer science world.

My class is intended for anyone who wants to dip their feet into the programming world, and truly recognise that their ideas are possible to make real!
