About Kien
I am a dedicated Mathematics with Computing student and university ambassador at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). My path towards teaching stems from a genuine passion for explaining and helping others understand the real-world applications of logic, coding, and mathematical systems.
During my GCSE and A-Levels, I routinely revised complex topics with peers by comprehensively explaining them to those who lacked confidence in maths. This honed my communication skills, leading to my selection for the Imperial Sutton Trust Summer School, where I presented complex mathematical topics to parents and non-experts alike. Winning first place within my presentation group solidified my confidence in conveying complex topics to those who find them daunting.
These experiences helped me truly understand what it's like to master material under pressure. I want to teach maths in a way that removes academic anxiety and helps students not only build a healthy relationship with their mathematical toolset, but strengthen their critical thinking and communication skills as well. Ultimately, I aim to foster a confident environment that empowers students to share their own knowledge with the wider community.

As a Mathematics with Computing student and maths ambassador at QMUL, I bring fresh academic success and engaging lessons for GCSE and A-Level students aged 14-18. I specialise in abstract mathematical concepts, and excel in breaking these concepts down into more accessible, tangible ideas.
My teaching methods focus on active problem-solving rather than passive listening. This allows students to understand how abstract concepts work and to think in a critical, logical way, rather than stressing about cramming large amounts of information. We tackle past exam and active recall questions with interactive online or in-person sessions, building critical thinking and analytical confidence.
Typical sessions run for a highly productive 60 minutes, though I can extend them to 90-100 minutes for intense exam preparation if a student needs a comprehensive breakdown of complex topics.
