About Silvia

Having grown up in a family of teachers, one more passionate than the other, I have always been surrounded by an atmosphere of learning and teaching. During the last years I have gradually got involved specifically in Language Education for children, educating them the English language in Spain and the Spanish language in England and Ireland. Currently I'm a Preschool teacher in Ireland, moreover joining an after-school club where I teach Spanish as an extracurricular activity.

At the prestigious University of Seville, I received top grades for a 4 year Bachelor specializing in 'Early Childhood Education'. Whilst attending University I interned at two schools of various socio-economic backgrounds, both focusing on social skills and increasing the kid's autonomy, aiming to guide them towards being responsible and committed citizens in society. Furthermore, alongside several short courses, I have completed a Degree in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. This to me is key as I have through the years developed into exercising and sharing my knowledge bilingually.

Apart from the field of education I love nature, sports, travelling and reading :)

About the lesson

Reflected in my current work and other positions I have taken in terms of private tutoring and working at an Academy whilst in Spain and England, I always strive to use innovative methods to strengthen students' competencies. Having initiated this through the medium of self-created games, physical activities, student-initiated projects and newer technologies such as Augmented Reality. This process has been considered effective as my students got motivated and learnt even without directly noticing, these skills are transferable to other domains. These mediums are a tool I use to embed national/international culture in the curriculum, which I see as a magnificent way to encourage them to respect differences and to be interested in the language taught. I come from a country with lots of cultural wonders that I share with the students, involving them in activities such as Flamenco dance, festivities like April Fair, Iberic gastronomy, Azulejos and more.

I am very interested in crossing cultures, if the student is interested I would be keen to set up a communication initiative between Spanish and international students, so they could get in touch and develop their conversational skills in both languages.
