About Lela

As a teacher, I have high expectations of my students, but these expectations come from a genuine belief in their potential. My aim is always to bring out the very best in each student and help them make meaningful progress, regardless of their starting point.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing students grow in confidence and achieve success in a subject they once found challenging. I believe that with the right support, clear guidance and consistent effort, every student can make excellent progress in Chemistry.

No two students are the same, which is why every lesson I deliver is carefully planned and TAILORED to the individual. I invest significant time and care into preparing personalised resources, identifying knowledge gaps and adapting my teaching approach to suit each student's needs, learning style and goals. This ensures that every session is purposeful, engaging and focused on helping students achieve their full potential.

About the lesson

I am a qualified Chemistry teacher at a leading independent boarding school, with a wealth of experience teaching and mentoring students across the full ability range. This includes highly able students aiming for top grades and competitive university courses, as well as students who require additional support, including those with SEND needs.

I hold a First-Class degree (achieving over 90%) from prestigious Russell Group universities, including University College London (UCL). I am fully qualified with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

My role extends beyond teaching and includes mentoring students academically and pastorally, helping them to develop confidence, resilience and effective study habits. I have high expectations of all my students and combine a warm, supportive approach with clear structure and accountability to ensure that meaningful progress is made.

I tutor GCSE, IGCSE and A Level Chemistry, tailoring lessons to each student's individual needs and goals. Whether a student is striving for the highest grades, looking to improve their confidence in Chemistry, or requires targeted support with challenging topics, I provide personalised guidance to help them reach their full potential.

I also have experience supporting students with competitive university applications, including applications for Medicine, Dentistry and other highly selective courses. Recent students I have mentored have gone on to study at universities including Durham University and King's College London.

Lela was honestly my only hope when it came to chemistry, and thanks to her, I managed to achieve a grade 9 in my GCSE Chemistry! She made learning chemistry feel so much easier by explaining everything in a way that was simple to understand. Even topics I struggled with started to make sense because of how well she taught them. I’m so grateful for all her help and support, and I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a chemistry tutor!
