About Sergey
I’m a Computer Science teacher and professional Software Engineer with a background in software development and experience teaching Computer Science across KS3, GCSE and A-Level.
I have a BSc (Hons) in Software Development and completed my PGCE in Secondary Computing with QTS at King’s College London. Alongside teaching, I have worked professionally as a Software Engineer, developing real-world applications and embedded technology. This allows me to connect classroom Computer Science with how programming and technology are actually used in industry.
My aim is not only to prepare students for their exams, but also to help them understand the deeper and often abstract ideas that underpin Computer Science. Computing goes beyond learning to code or memorising technical content; at its core, it is a way of approaching problems logically, breaking complex ideas into manageable parts and developing solutions step by step.
That problem-solving mindset is one of the things I value most about the subject. I want students to develop both the knowledge they need to succeed academically and the confidence to think computationally, so they can apply those skills not only in Computer Science, but in further study, future careers and everyday problem-solving.

My teaching approach is built around Semantic Waves and Bloom’s Taxonomy, helping students move from understanding key concepts to applying, analysing and independently solving problems.
I organise each lesson into short, focused chunks so students are not overloaded with information. We normally begin by activating prior knowledge, then introduce a new concept with clear explanations and examples. Using the Semantic Wave approach, I regularly move between abstract Computer Science ideas and concrete, real-world examples before bringing students back to the technical terminology they need for exams.
Bloom’s Taxonomy helps structure the level of challenge throughout the lesson. Students progress from remembering and understanding, to applying and analysing, and finally to solving more complex problems independently.
For programming lessons, I use the PRIMM approach: Predict, Run, Investigate, Modify and Make. Students first predict what a piece of code will do, then run and investigate it before making changes and eventually creating their own solution. This builds confidence gradually and helps students develop a deeper understanding of how programmes work, rather than simply copying code.
Lessons are generally 55 minutes long, but the chunked delivery allows me to adapt the lesson to minimum length of 30 min
