About Brenda
With over 2 years of experience teaching English, literature, and classical languages, I offer a deep and well-rounded understanding of the subject. I hold qualifications in both English and Classics, and have worked with students from diverse backgrounds—ranging from middle school learners to university-level scholars and adult professionals. My lessons are thoughtfully designed, structured yet flexible, and always tailored to the individual needs of each student. I am committed to creating a positive, respectful learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to grow. Whether you're preparing for exams, refining your academic writing, or simply developing a love for language and literature, I bring patience, insight, and enthusiasm to every session. Professionalism, punctuality, and clear communication are at the heart of my work as an educator.

As a tutor, my approach is student-centered, adaptable, and grounded in both classical and modern pedagogical techniques. Whether I’m helping with essay structure, exploring Shakespeare, or preparing students for the SAT, I tailor each lesson to the learner’s goals, learning style, and level of confidence.
A typical lesson begins with a short check-in and review of previous material. We then move into focused work—this could mean analyzing a poem, building a thesis statement, practicing rhetorical techniques, or preparing for a standardized test. I always include moments of reflection and skill reinforcement to help learning stick.
What sets me apart is my background in both English literature and classical languages (Latin and Ancient Greek), which allows me to offer rich contextual insights, especially for students interested in literary history, comparative literature, or rhetoric. I also bring creativity to lessons through “Brenda,” a fictional character I sometimes use in exercises to make grammar and writing topics more fun and relatable—students often end up writing short stories or speeches about Brenda while mastering core concepts.
I work with learners of all kinds—from middle and high school students to university undergrads and adult learners. I also support ESL students and those preparing for the ACT, SAT, GED, or academic writing in English at an advanced level.
My goal is always the same: to help students build confidence, master their skills, and even enjoy the learning process.
