About Hannah Louise

I’m a qualified Geography teacher, examiner and former Head of Geography with 12 years’ experience teaching GCSE and A Level Geography. I have taught across a range of schools and settings and have extensive experience supporting students at different starting points, from those rebuilding confidence to high-achieving students aiming for Grades 8–9 and A/A*.
Alongside teaching, I examine Geography for AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and Cambridge International. This gives me a detailed understanding of assessment objectives, mark schemes and the standards required for the highest-level responses.
Recent students I have supported have achieved A* and high A grades at A Level, including one student who achieved 107/108 on Paper 3, with students progressing to universities including Oxford and LSE.
I hold a BSc in Geography from Queen’s University Belfast and completed postgraduate teacher training before gaining Qualified Teacher Status. I also have extensive experience supporting students with SEND and ADHD and understand the importance of adapting teaching to the individual while maintaining high academic expectations.
Geography has been at the centre of my professional career, and I particularly enjoy helping students become more confident, independent and precise in the way they approach the subject. My aim is for students to understand not only the geographical content itself, but also how to use that knowledge effectively in examinations.

About the lesson

My tuition is highly targeted and built around the individual student. I begin by identifying their exam board, current and target grade, upcoming assessments, areas of weaker knowledge and the types of questions where they are currently losing marks. This allows us to focus lesson time on the areas that will make the greatest difference to their performance.
Lessons combine clear teaching of geographical content with structured exam practice. I use examiner-style questioning, worked examples, modelled responses and detailed feedback to help students understand exactly where marks are being gained or lost and, importantly, why.
A major focus of my teaching is developing the skills students need to apply their knowledge successfully in examinations. We work on interpreting command words, applying geographical knowledge to unfamiliar contexts, selecting precise case-study evidence, developing analytical chains, using data effectively, evaluating arguments and reaching supported judgements. For longer questions and essays, the focus is on building a clear argument and developing high-quality analysis rather than relying on memorised responses.
I support students at a wide range of starting points, from those who need to rebuild confidence and secure their target grade to high-achieving students aiming for Grades 8–9 and A/A*. Lessons are adapted to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.
I also offer specialist A Level NEA support, including refining enquiry questions, methodology, sampling, data presentation, analysis and evaluation. Guidance is focused on developing the student’s geographical understanding and enquiry skills while ensuring that all assessed work remains independently produced.
For students with SEND or ADHD, I can adapt lesson structure, pace and resources to reduce cognitive overload while maintaining high academic expectations.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and take place online. My aim is for students to develop a deeper understanding of Geography, become more confident in their exam technique and, ultimately, become increasingly independent in applying what they know.

GCSE Geography tuition: £55 per hour
A Level Geography tuition: £65 per hour
Superprof allows only one hourly rate to be displayed on my main profile, so the advertised £55 rate reflects my GCSE tuition rate. A Level tuition is £65 per hour.
The complimentary first 30-minute session is an initial consultation and diagnostic rather than a full taught lesson. During this session, we will discuss the student’s exam board, current and target grade, upcoming assessments, areas of strength and weakness, and the aspects of Geography or exam technique where they would most benefit from support.
This allows me to understand the student’s individual needs and priorities so that subsequent lessons can be carefully planned around the areas most likely to improve their confidence, geographical understanding and examination performance.
Following the initial consultation, lessons are normally 60 minutes and take place online.
