About Eleanor

I am a fully qualified teacher who has experience working as an Assistant Team Leader for Geography, where it was my responsibility was to design and resource a concept led KS3 curriculum. I also have experience designing interactive curriculum resources for the Geographical Association and Oak National Academy. I adopt a wide range of pedagogical techniques that can be adapted to work in favour of the needs of all students. I have five years of Geography teaching experience in KS3, 4 (AQA) and 5 (Edexcel). Alongside this, I have worked as an examiner for AQA Geography GCSE and I have delivered an intense revision programme to GCSE students to help them refine their exam technique and time management to enable them to maximise their progress. I graduated from the University of Cardiff with a 2:1 Honours Degree in Human Geography in 2018. I went on to graduate from the University of Plymouth with a PGCE in Secondary Geography in 2021. I received a scholarship from the Royal Geographical Society to support my PGCE course. I am a friendly, sociable, and active person who has an approachable nature. I love working with young people and helping them reach their full potential. I take pride in everything I do and strive to build strong rapports with students. I have a passion for exploring the world and therefore these experiences help me ensure that my lessons are enjoyable, relatable, and purposeful.

About the lesson

I am offering AQA GCSE Geography tuition. My 2024 GCSE results evidenced my ability to ensure that all students I teach make maximum progress (P8= +1.01). This is a result of my lessons being interactive and designed in line with current research on education for KS3, 4, and 5 students. I ensure that my lessons are relatable and enjoyable for all students to help embed their knowledge into their long term memory. I will adapt learning to meet the needs of all students to support them with reaching their full potential. I carefully consider curriculum by taking a conceptual approach to help students understand the interconnectedness of the core themes in Geography: space, place, and scale. I will ensure that students develop their geographical skills alongside this, to fully prepare them for their formal assessments and ultimately become great Geographers.
