About Gundo
I am a qualified high school teacher with a BSc and a PGCE, specialising in CAPS/NSC Grade 10–12 Mathematical Literacy and Life Sciences, as well as Senior Phase Mathematics and Natural Sciences. My English-medium lessons are highly inclusive and interactive, structured around breaking down complex curriculum concepts into relatable ideas anchored in my students' lived experiences to remove academic anxiety. A typical 60-minute session balances a 10-minute diagnostic homework check, 30 minutes of collaborative, step-by-step problem-solving, and 20 minutes of targeted exam preparation. As a qualified, practising educator, my tutoring approach is entirely learner-centred, inclusive, and grounded in the CAPS curriculum. I specialise in breaking down complex topics into digestible, relatable concepts anchored directly in my students' lived experiences. In Mathematical Literacy and Senior Phase Mathematics, I strip away abstract numerical anxiety by framing calculations around practical, everyday contexts like personal budgeting, financial data, and navigating maps. Similarly, for Life Sciences and Natural Sciences, I teach biological and physical concepts by linking them directly to the environment my learners encounter every day. This empathetic, reality-centred approach ensures that English-proficient students from diverse backgrounds feel seen, capable, and genuinely motivated to succeed. Every 60-minute session is structured as an interactive dialogue designed to build both deep competence and academic confidence. A typical lesson begins with a collaborative 10-minute check-in to clear previous homework bottlenecks, followed by 30 minutes of scaffolded, step-by-step core learning where students actively solve problems alongside me rather than passively listening. The final 20 minutes are dedicated to results-oriented exam preparation, decoding command verbs, interpreting complex data sheets or biological diagrams, and mastering rubric requirements. These lessons are perfectly structured to support Senior Phase learners (Grades 8–9) building essential high school foundations, as well as FET Phase learners (Grades 10–12) navigating rigorous NSC Matric trial and final examination preparation.
