My teaching method varied according to the needs of the student and the context. If it is about teaching in Secondary Schools or Six Form Colleges, as a qualified teacher, I follow a well-structured lesson plan with a starter, main body and plenary. Before the lesson happens, I think and write my lesson plan. Objectives, teaching methods, resources, evaluation (formative and summative) and homework must be included. I also take into account other aspects such as students learning styles and differentiation - variety of resources according to students’ needs and levels. The lesson must be linked with the previous lesson and the next one and it must be linked also with other school subjects.
I if is about private tuitions, then the teaching is a bit different. Once I know the real needs of the person, then I set a plan. So far, I taught privately to adults who wanted to improve their foreign language skills for pleasure, adults to wanted to get ready to pass a specific exam, and ‘A’ levels students who needed to improve the written skills to achieve good grades to access to university. Every student is different but the structure of the lesson always follows a similar pattern as I explained before. Personally, apart from organising my teaching, I like to see the student enjoying the lesson. If they like it they will be passionate for the subject and the learning will be much quicker and efficient.
I am a linguist. At the beginning of my career, I qualified in Spain as a French and Sports primary school teacher. After finishing it, I taught for two years in two different primary schools. I also worked for a year as a TA in a secondary school in France. While I was still living in Spain, I went back to university for two more years to achieve a degree in Translation Interpretation with three languages: Spanish, French and English. Once this was finished, I decided to stay in the UK for a year to complete a master degree at Sunderland University and I end up becoming a qualified teacher after passing the PGCE year course at the University of the West of England in Bristol. Since them, I worked as a secondary school teacher with Spanish and French as main subjects. I also do private tuition classes. The translator interpreter qualification let me doing some freelance work for companies. At the moment, I do some interpretation for a company based in Oxford.
