About Marie

I'm Marie and I have a huge passion for educating children and instilling a love of learning. Building that ‘CAN-DO’ attitude and having fun is the key to success, so let’s get started and together, we can build that gem between your ears!

A bit about me...
I am a fully qualified teacher currently working in an ‘outstanding’ primary school with more than 18 years’ teaching experience. I have taught classes across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with responsibility for Mathematics, English and Physical Education.

I continue to teach in the borough of Richmond and am currently a senior leader within my school, responsible for leading lower Key Stage 2 and Mathematics. I am a primary maths specialist and have completed training with South West London as a specialist leader in Mathematics, and also worked as a Development Lead for Mathematics Mastery. Being a trained Mathematics Mastery specialist, I provide advice and training to school leadership teams, heads of Mathematics and teachers to ensure effective implementation of the mastery approach. I also plan and deliver high-quality training workshops and inter-school collaboration sessions with both teachers and parents.

I am a fun, approachable, and dedicated teacher and feel incredibly proud and impassioned by the success stories and comments on how I’ve been able to create positive approaches and attitudes, rather than just simply teaching the knowledge to my students. Even if students start out hating maths or feeling anxious about it, I believe there’s always something within the subject they can enjoy. I’ve seen many students struggle due to negative experiences with maths, and I strive to provide a different, more positive approach. Supporting children to achieve their full potential and boosting their confidence lies at the heart of everything I do. Aiming only for grades can lead to memorising facts without really understanding them. I believe that every child benefits more from learning to think mathematically and striving to do their personal best. My goal is to help students develop a love for maths and a strong, deep understanding of the subject.

Over the years, I have helped numerous students achieve remarkable improvements in their confidence and skills in maths. By tailoring my lessons to each child's unique needs, I ensure that learning is engaging, effective, and enjoyable.

About the lesson

Teaching Approach
I focus on making Maths engaging and relatable. My teaching style is centred on building strong, positive relationships with my students to foster a comfortable learning environment. I tailor my lessons to meet the individual needs of each child, ensuring they develop a solid understanding and love for Maths.

Subjects and Levels
I specialise in teaching Maths to primary students, ages 6-13. From basic arithmetic to problem-solving and exam preparation, I cover all aspects of the primary Maths curriculum.

Availability and Location
I offer tutoring sessions in Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow boroughs, either at the student's home or mine. Additionally, I provide online lessons for added flexibility. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to accommodate various times throughout the week.
