About Sharon
"I'm Sharon, a qualified maths teacher and Head of Maths with over 11 years of experience in secondary education. I actually retrained in my late thirties to become a maths teacher — because maths had always been my passion and I wanted to share that with others. Best decision I ever made.
I genuinely love the moment a student goes from confused to confident. That moment never gets old.
I know from years in the classroom that maths anxiety is real, and that struggling with the subject often has nothing to do with ability — it's usually about finding the right explanation at the right time. But it's not just about the maths. A huge part of what I do is helping students develop an 'I can do this' mindset — building the confidence and self-belief that unlocks everything else. Some of my most rewarding moments as a teacher have been watching a student who once said 'I'm just not a maths person' prove themselves completely wrong.
Outside the classroom I'm currently developing an educational maths app, which keeps me constantly thinking about new and better ways to explain concepts clearly. I bring that same creativity to my tutoring sessions.
I believe every student can make progress in maths with the right support — and I'd love to help yours get there.

I have been tutoring privately for 4 years alongside 11 years of classroom experience, with outstanding outcomes for students at all levels. Online lessons allow me to adapt quickly — switching resources instantly if a student needs a concept broken down further or is ready to progress faster.
My approach is structured but flexible. I always model new concepts clearly before working through examples together, ensuring students develop genuine understanding rather than just memorising methods. Students then practise alongside me with further questions to consolidate knowledge. Where helpful, I set targeted tasks between sessions to reinforce progress.
Sessions are typically one hour and tailored entirely to the individual student — whether that's building confidence from the basics, tackling specific topics, or focused GCSE exam preparation
