About Carmen

I graduated in Early Childhood Education from the University of Zaragoza , Spain, in 2017. After working in day nurseries as a nursery teacher and in primary schools as a primary teacher - including teaching Spanish to medium and large groups of children aged 4 to 11 - I have decided to focus on adult education this year. To prepare for this transition, I completed the Initial Training course for ELE teachers last October, and I'm currently enrolled in the preparation course for the DADIC (Instituto Cervantes Teaching Accreditation Diploma) - autonomous level, which I will finish next March. Additionally, I'm taking the DELE examiner accreditation course (levels A1 & A2) this month and plan to continue with the remaining courses to become an examiner for additional courses.
I hold QTS and DBS. References are available upon request.

Regarding my experience, I have worked as a nursery teacher for four years in day nurseries, and as a supply teacher through an agency for more than three years, which has allowed me to gain experience teaching Spanish in primary schools. A key role was a one-year maternity cover position I undertook at a school in London, where I taught Spanish to students aged 4 to 11. I also have experience as a private Spanish tutor for children and teenagers (1:1 lessons), as well as with adults as part of the teaching practice for the DADIC preparation course.

About the lesson

As a Spanish tutor, my teaching approach is centred on communication, personalisation, and confidence-building. I adapt every lesson to each student’s learning style, goals, and level—whether you’re a complete beginner, a student preparing for exams, or a professional looking to enhance your language skills.

I use a communicative and immersive method, meaning I encourage the use of Spanish as much as possible from the start. I incorporate:
- Real-life conversation practice
Grammar explained in context
- Listening and speaking exercises
- Reading authentic materials (articles, songs, short stories)
- Writing support and vocabulary building
- For visual or auditory learners, I integrate tools like slides, videos, and audio clips to reinforce understanding. ️

Typical Lesson Length: Lessons typically last 60 minutes, which allows for a balanced mix of grammar, speaking, and listening practice.

Who My Lessons Are For: I teach all levels—from absolute beginners to advanced learners—and all ages, including:
- Children (ages 8+)
- Teenagers preparing for exams (GCSE, A-Level, etc.)
- Adults learning for work, travel, or personal enrichment

Whether you’re learning for school, work, or passion, I’ll help you reach your goals with engaging, supportive, and customised lessons.

First Lesson: In this introductory session, I'll assess the student's current level, set learning goals, and begin with key conversational basics. We'll discuss the student's experience, motivation, and preferred learning style, and decide whether to include homework.

The session is friendly, flexible, and focused on building confidence from the start.
