About Amanda
I'm Amanda, a qualified educator and animal behaviour specialist based in the North East of England, offering online tutoring for primary and secondary age students across science, biology, nature, and literacy.
I hold a BSc in Animal Behaviour and Training, a Certificate in Education, and have spent years delivering educational workshops, school visits, and nature-based learning experiences through my own community interest company. I'm also a published children's author — my books focus on animals and the natural world, so my love of nature genuinely runs through everything I teach.
Whether your child is working through KS1, KS2, KS3, or KS4, I bring real-world knowledge and genuine enthusiasm to every session. I don't just teach from a textbook — I make science and nature feel alive, relevant, and exciting.

My online sessions are fully tailored to your child — in length, pace, and content. For younger primary children I keep things shorter and punchy to hold attention, while older secondary students can work through more in a longer session. I offer both one-to-one tuition and small group sessions, so whether your child learns best with individual attention or enjoys a bit of friendly peer interaction, there's an option that works.
Every lesson is planned around your child's current level and what they need to get out of it — whether that's keeping up with the curriculum, building confidence in a tricky topic, or simply exploring a subject they're passionate about. I use real-world examples drawn from my years working with animals and delivering nature-based education, which means lessons rarely feel like lessons. My aim is always for your child to finish a session having genuinely enjoyed it — because that's when the learning really sticks.

Amanda is an exceptional educator whose warmth, patience, and genuine care make her stand out in every learning environment. She has a remarkable ability to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them feel safe, understood, and capable from the very start.
She tutored my children in animal welfare, and what impressed me most was how she turned a complex, emotionally sensitive topic into something engaging, empowering, and accessible. She doesn’t just teach facts; she nurtures empathy, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility. My kids still talk about the lessons they learned with her.
One of my children has dyslexia, and Amanda supported them with a level of understanding and adaptability that is rare to find. She instinctively knew how to adjust her teaching style, break down information, and build confidence without ever making them feel different or behind. Her patience is steady, her encouragement is sincere, and her belief in every learner is unmistakable.
Students trust Amanda because she listens deeply and responds with clarity. They feel confident with her because she creates an environment where mistakes are part of learning, not something to fear. She brings out the best in young people academically, emotionally, and personally.
Amanda is not just a tutor; she is a mentor who inspires growth, compassion, and self-belief. Any student who has the chance to learn with her is incredibly fortunate.View more recommendations
