About
Hello, I’m Emily! I am a primary school teacher and currently teach in a year 4 mainstream classroom. I’m a fun, caring individual who likes to make learning interesting, promote open and honest conversations and engage all pupils in activities that are going to build on prior knowledge. I am willing to work with Primary age pupils who need extra support in any area of the curriculum along with pupils who may have additional needs, as I have several years' experience within this area too. I have good working knowledge of the Little Wandle phonics scheme and have delivered this within a school. I love working with children and have done my whole career. Prior to qualifying as a teacher, I have worked as a teaching assistant, a resource worker for children with special educational needs and disabilities and I have worked within a safeguarding team for social services. My favourite subjects are maths, science and PE. In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and have previously been a member of a rowing club. I’ve competed in competitions regionally and recognise what sport can do for your mental health, self-esteem and well-being.

I enjoy making learning fun and believe students are more engaged when they are having fun and have a resource or activity that sparks their interest within a subject or topic. Having recaps at the start of new lessons to revisit prior learning is something that I have within my lessons as this helps knowledge stick, and promotes new learning being remembered and retained within the long-term memory.
