About Tabitha
Hi, I’m Tabitha! I’m a qualified primary teacher with a PGCE and a passion for helping children feel confident and capable in their learning.
During my teacher training, I gained experience across the primary age range, with a particular focus on Year 1. I really enjoy finding different ways to explain things and seeing that moment when something that initially seemed difficult suddenly starts to make sense.
I’m a warm, patient and enthusiastic person, and I believe building a positive relationship with a child is an important part of helping them learn. I want children to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and taking their time to understand something properly, without feeling that they are “bad at maths”.
I particularly enjoy making maths practical and accessible. Every child understands mathematical ideas differently, so I love finding the right combination of objects, visual representations, games, questions and explanations to help a child discover how something works for themselves.
I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, which has given me a naturally creative approach to problem-solving and teaching. I enjoy bringing that creativity into my lessons and finding ways to make learning feel less intimidating and more enjoyable.
My aim is not just to help children get the right answer, but to help them understand how they got there and feel proud of what they can achieve. I’m really looking forward to helping each child build their skills, confidence and enjoyment of maths.

I believe children learn maths best when they understand why something works, rather than simply memorising a method. My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to each child, with a strong focus on building both mathematical understanding and confidence.
I am a qualified primary teacher with a PGCE and experience teaching across the primary age range. I can support children with number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, times tables, problem solving, reasoning, shape, measurement, money and time, as well as general schoolwork.
Where appropriate, I use concrete materials and practical activities to help children make sense of mathematical ideas. Using objects that children can physically see and manipulate can make abstract concepts much easier to understand, particularly when a child is finding a topic difficult. We can then move from practical resources, to visual representations, and eventually towards more abstract written methods as their understanding develops.
I also use games, questioning, discussion and carefully scaffolded activities to identify misconceptions and help children explain their mathematical thinking. Every lesson is adapted to the child's individual starting point, so we can spend more time on areas they find challenging while continuing to build on the skills they already have.
Whether your child needs help understanding a particular topic, wants to become more confident with maths, or would benefit from additional support alongside their schoolwork, my aim is to make maths feel manageable, meaningful and even enjoyable.
Lessons are suitable for children aged 4–11 and are usually 45–60 minutes, depending on the child's age and needs.
