About Tatiana

Hello! I'm Tatiana, a native Russian speaker from Latvia and a professionally qualified teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language, with specialist education from Moscow State University.

I have seven years of experience teaching Russian as a Foreign Language, with a particular focus on working with children and teenagers. Over the years, I have taught students from different countries and cultural backgrounds — from complete beginners discovering Russian for the first time to bilingual children who need to maintain and develop the language they hear at home.

Teaching Russian, for me, is much more than explaining grammar and vocabulary. I genuinely enjoy helping children discover the language, become more confident and gradually realise how much they can already understand and express.

I am patient and supportive, but I also believe that children benefit from clear goals, consistency and structure. I respect each child's personality and interests and enjoy finding the approach that helps an individual learner stay engaged and make real progress.

One of the most rewarding things for me is hearing from parents that their child looks forward to our lessons. I want my students not only to learn Russian, but to feel confident using it and to discover the culture, literature and wider world that the language can open up to them.

For me, enjoyment, confidence and real progress are the foundations of successful language learning.

About the lesson

I specialise in teaching Russian to children and teenagers, from complete beginners to bilingual and heritage Russian-speaking children who want to develop confident speaking, reading and writing skills.

Every child is different, so I create an individual learning programme based on the student's age, level, personality, interests and goals. I don't simply follow the same textbook with every learner.

For younger children, I use games, stories, visual materials, puzzles and varied interactive activities. With older children and teenagers, we gradually move towards richer vocabulary and more complex language through literature, culture, history and other engaging topics. Grammar is taught systematically, but always in a clear and age-appropriate way.

For bilingual and heritage-speaking children, I pay particular attention to developing natural, accurate Russian speech, expanding active vocabulary and building confidence in reading and writing. I also work with children who understand Russian well but tend to answer their parents and relatives in English.

I am a professionally qualified teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language, with specialist education from Moscow State University. Russian is my native language, and I have extensive experience teaching children online.

Lessons are individually tailored and usually last 30–40 minutes for younger children and 50–60 minutes for older children and teenagers.

My aim is not simply to teach children Russian — I want them to enjoy using it.
