About Matthew

I am a fully qualified teacher (qualified 2015) with 1st class Physics hons degree from University of Warwick, following this I worked for a year in research working in the astronomy and astrophysics department of the University of Warwick. My own A levels are in mathematics, physics and further mathematics

I have worked in several schools across the country supporting students from a range of backgrounds to make expected progress or above in science and mathematics. Prior to teaching I worked with students as a private tutor in the Newcastle and North-East area.

About the lesson

My experience tutoring is primarily in GCSE and A-level physical sciences and mathematics. I have up to date knowledge of current science and mathematics curricula expertise in planning and delivering courses for individuals and small groups and personally developed resources which are routinely updated and adapted to offer a bespoke experience.

I ensure that during contact time focus is placed on firmly on those areas where students most need support. Through assessment and homework I will identify areas of common or individual misconceptions around key ideas ensuring that you receive not only an experience that will ensure that you achieve academically but have a fundamental understanding of the key concepts.

My students are encouraged and directed to use both my own and carefully curated outside resources to help in their academic development with exercises set appropriately depending on the frequency of lessons.

Details

Rate of £21 per hour represent approx 30 mins planning and resourcing and 1 hour marking and written feedback from myself in addition to the 1 hour of direct contact time you receive. If you wish for these services to be provided at an increased rate without an increase in contact time would be negotiable on a case by case basis.

Any lessons cancelled less than 24 hours in advance would be charged at full rate.
