About Amanda
Subjects Mathematics Mandarin Biography As a qualified teacher, I reflect on my practice daily and seek to improve pupils’ confidence and results. Prior to graduating from the University of Cambridge, I completed my A-level studies with the highest achievable grades in maths, Mandarin Chinese, politics and history. For the last ten years, I have worked in education and subsequently gained a deep insight into the techniques for effective learning and teaching. I am experienced in helping pupils reduce their anxiety towards maths by addressing the barriers to grasping mathematical concepts. I prepare my pupils to achieve both procedural fluency and sound conceptual understanding with the objective of improving their exam results. Another key aspect of my lessons is to help pupils transform their short-term performance into long-term learning by using a multitude of revision techniques to improve knowledge retention. For those who are preparing for public exams, for example GCSE or A Level, in addition to subject knowledge, the focus will be on exam techniques and revision skills to make sure students are familiar with the exam syllabus and requirements.
