About Samantha
I am an early career teacher having recently qualified in secondary modern language teaching. I have an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Portuguese and before university, I spent one year teaching English as a foreign language at a school in Santiago, Chile where Spanish is the native language. I have also completed an internship at a language school in Salamanca, Spain where I taught English to students of all ages and I also worked as a translator from English to Spanish. I have plenty of experience teaching languages as well as a lot of experience living in Spanish speaking countries. As well as Spanish, I also currently teach French at KS3.

I teach students of all ages from beginners level Spanish to A Level Spanish. I like to create a fun and interactive learning environment ensuring the student feels comfortable and confident about the work. I believe the best way to learn a language is to listen to it and speak it as much as possible therefore, I always try to speak the majority of my classes in Spanish and encourage the students to do the same. This helps massively with the students confidence when understanding and speaking the language. I incorporate the use of video clips, podcasts, news articles and films into my lessons as a way to engage the students listening and reading skills and to also increase the students cultural awareness of the Hispanic world. Having lived in both Chile and Spain myself, I know how daunting and demanding it can be to learn a foreign language therefore, my number one aim as a Spanish tutor is to boost the confidence of my students and make them feel comfortable when engaging with the language.
