About Ronan
I am a lecturer and academic in sound engineering based at a third level institution in Glasgow. I was formerly a teacher of maths and physics in various schools in the late 90s. I really enjoy teaching mathematics and physics but prefer to do it in smaller groups or on an individual basis where an intellectual connection can be properly formed between tutor and student. I have been tutoring students over the last few years in National 5 Maths and Physics, and Higher Mathematics. I'm fully cognisant of the curriculum for both subjects and levels of study and I love teaching these curricula.

I recognise that many students learn in different ways and therefore I use an individual approach for each student based on their academic needs and knowledge and understanding of the subject. However, I also recognise if I am being taken on as a tutor, you, as a parent or guardian, expect the student to perform well in exams. Therefore, my teaching focus is on how to approach exam questions with an emphasis on strategies that will maximise marks from individual exam questions. I work through exam questions with my students and identify gaps in their knowledge and understanding which can be addressed via a refocus on key elements of the curriculum they are following. I qualified as a secondary school teacher of maths and physics in the 90s, and in the late 90s I worked in various schools as a class teacher. I moved on from teaching to take up a job in industry and subsequently I now work in higher education. However, over the last three years, I've returned to teaching via individual tutoring starting with the children of friends and expanding now into working with other young people who require support in their learning experience. I also have to say that I have a serious passion for mathematics and physics that has never left me since my first degree in engineering. I really enjoy working with individuals or small groups and sharing this passion for mathematics and physics.
