About Devonna

I've been giving lessons for about a year now!

My best student was helping a fellow student attending the same university who has always struggled with the Spanish language. I was able to help her break down every concept that they were learning in class, and go at her pace, while at the same time making sure that she was keeping up with the class! She was able to understand the language and how to apply it more, and received a good grade in Spanish for the first time in her life.

About the lesson

I am currently residing in Greensboro, NC. I currently am a senior, attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) studying a double major of Spanish and Sociology with a concentration in criminology.

I think it is important that other students use the resource of a tutor because it helps them get quality one on one time that they otherwise would not get from inside the classroom itself. As a senior in college, I still to this very day use tutor resources!

I value learning, and I want to help others learn to love learning as well, and gain more experience. I want to help other students feel comfortable and confident in what they do, and be able to apply their skills from inside the classroom to anywhere that they go. I am committed to your student reaching their goals, both academically and not.

I have been learning the Spanish language since the third grade. Anything from grammar, to phonetics of the language, as well as the culture and history. Not only have I been learning my skills inside of the class I have taken those writing and speaking skills beyond the classroom and applied it to jobs to communicate with coworkers and customers and people I come into contact with everyday. I currently am in a conversation partner program with a student who is from Mexico who's primary language is Spanish.

For tutoring style, it all depends on the student's needs. I want the student to not just say they know the answer, but I want them to be able to show me that they know it and can apply it to their studying. I am not a fan of cramming in information just because! Spanish is a language that you need to practice in order to retain the information!
