About Tara

I am a mother of 3 girls and dog mom to 3 Bernese Mountain Dogs. I bring my dogs to school with me to help support emotional needs in the classroom as well as fostering a calm learning environment. I have 9 years experience in the special education field. I currently work at one of the state's largest middle schools.
Relationships with my students are important to me. People will not want to learn if they don't feel a connection with their teacher. I am flexible in how a student learns.
I am funny, personable and a realist.

About the lesson

Choosing the right tutor is about finding someone who not only understands how children learn but also knows how to meet them where they are. That's exactly what I strive to do with every student.

I specialize in supporting students in **3rd through 8th grade** in reading, writing, and oral expression. Every child has unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles, so I tailor each lesson to their individual abilities, goals, and pace. Whether your child needs to build foundational literacy skills, improve reading comprehension, strengthen writing, or develop confidence in speaking and expressing ideas, I create personalized instruction that helps them make meaningful progress.

What sets me apart is both my professional expertise and my personal experience. I am a **licensed Special Education teacher** with years of experience helping students with diverse learning needs. I also understand the journey from a parent's perspective, as I am the mother of a child who has received services through an IEP. This gives me a unique understanding of the challenges families face and the importance of providing patient, compassionate, and effective support.

I am well-versed in the **Minnesota Read Act** and have completed the state-required training in evidence-based reading instruction. I use a reading program that has been approved by the State of Minnesota, ensuring that the strategies and instruction I provide are grounded in research and aligned with current best practices.

My goal is to help every student build not only stronger academic skills but also the confidence to become an independent, successful learner. I believe that when instruction is personalized, encouraging, and evidence-based, children can achieve more than they ever thought possible.
