About Tony
I graduated in 1987 with a science degree and then went on to pass my Certificate in Education. I also have a Licentiate Performer's Diploma in classical guitar and an Associate Diploma in ukulele. I passed Grade 8 in both instruments and also in steel string guitar. I have been a peripatetic teacher in schools, private lessons and music centres since the 1990s. I have four commercially published music books.

There is nothing more exciting, challenging or rewarding than learning a musical instrument. Patience and persistence along with encouragement, feedback, solutions to difficulties with technical suggestions are what makes a worthwhile lesson for both teacher and student. It is a friendly collaboration, both having an active role. I disagree with the prevalent idea that music has to be 'fun'. It is always much deeper and more important than that from the first lesson.

I have known Tony for many years as a fellow-member of the Wealden Guitar Society - he is an excellent guitarist. While I have no experience of him as a teacher myself, from what I have heard he is a sympathetic and considerate guide for his students. His personality is friendly and good-humoured.
Tony is a very patient and professional teacher. he is very experienced and excellent at getting ideas across to students of all ages. Tony has a wealth of experience of playing, arranging and teaching and I have no hesitation in recommending him. If you want to either learn from scratch or improve your playing, Tony is your man. I have worked with Tony as a teacher and co authored a book with him. I have seen him teaching as an individual and group basis, both of which is is extremely comfortable with.
