About Chicane

I am a qualified therapist with a strong passion for supporting young people both academically and emotionally. My background includes working as a SEN teaching assistant and children’s counsellor, where I developed a deep understanding of how different students learn and the challenges they can face in education.

I chose to tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping students grow in confidence and realise their potential. I know that learning can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel understood and encouraged. I often incorporate creativity into my sessions, using approaches such as discussion, visual aids, and where appropriate, elements of play or creative thinking to make learning more engaging and accessible.

My approach is patient, approachable and tailored to each individual. I adapt my teaching style to suit different learning needs, ensuring that each student feels supported in a way that works best for them. I believe that when students feel confident, understood and engaged, they are far more likely to succeed - not just in their studies, but in how they feel about themselves as learners.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each individual student, creating a relaxed and supportive space where learning feels manageable and confidence can grow. As a qualified therapist, I understand that many students struggle not just with the subject itself, but with anxiety, low confidence or feeling overwhelmed. Because of this, I focus on building both understanding and self-belief alongside academic progress.

I specialise in psychology at all levels, and also offer support in English, maths (primary), Spanish (primary), and 11+ preparation. My sessions are structured but flexible, focusing on breaking down difficult concepts, improving exam technique, and helping students feel more in control of their learning.

With experience as a SEN teaching assistant and children’s counsellor, I am patient, approachable and able to adapt my teaching style to suit a wide range of needs and learning styles. My aim is not just to improve grades, but to help students feel more confident, capable and motivated in their studies.
