About Dimitri
Hi there, My name is Dimitri Bakalis and I'm a first year Film Studies student at Queen Mary. In my experience at school, I've found that the best educators are those who bring a passion to their subject. For example, my Photography teachers at A-Level not only encouraged me when taking shoots in London, but also introduced me to art and films that were both relevant to our topic and inspirational for future work. My approach to tutoring is a collaborative process whereby key topics to improve upon are identified and worked through in a well explained and understanding manner. Engagement is an incredibly important aspect in education, to achieve this, an enthusiasm must be brought to each subject alongside interesting learning techniques that may expand beyond the curriculum - in the example of film, learning about the historical context to a film as well as its cultural impact upon release is often as fascinating as the film itself. I hope that each session sparks an active participation that will lead to a further excitement towards whatever the subject is.
