About Maria Mijara
Hello! I’m Maria, and I believe that every student can learn when they have the right teacher, the right support, and someone who truly believes in them. With more than 17 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students in the Philippines and the United States and working with learners from different backgrounds and abilities.
I’m a Queensland and New Zealand Registered Teacher and a Florida Certified Teacher, with qualifications including a Doctor of Development Education. But beyond my degrees and experience, what I value most is seeing that moment when a student says, “Oh, I get it now!”
I teach because I love making challenging ideas feel simple, helping students discover what they are capable of, and turning frustration into confidence. My goal is not just to help you get the right answer—it’s to help you become a more confident, independent, and enthusiastic learner. I can’t wait to learn with you!
