About Devan

Theories: SCIENCE CAN BE FUN. If you don’t think so, I blame the teacher. I utilize several different memory techniques to help students make this information more sticky and memorable. Simplify, simplify, simplify. One of my greatest strengths is being able to critically analyze things and consider multiple opinions and perspectives. I've gained a lot of knowledge over the years but even that has its limits and I think it is important to remain open to being able to change one’s views or thoughts on a matter, be it of a personal nature or something epistemological.

Outside of my professional endeavours. I don’t liken myself to a comedian by any stretch of the imagination but nevertheless, I love to make myself and the people around me laugh. I work in very serious and stressful environments so being able to add levity to situations has been integral for me and how I manage stress. I take my work and what I do very seriously, but by no means do I take myself seriously; I am my biggest source of laughter. A student should choose me to help facilitate their learning because of my extensive experience with teaching and tutoring. All of these experiences imparted on me what I believe to be the fundamental tenet for any prospective tutor and pedagogue: there is a spectrum over which students and individuals learn & assimilate information. As such, you must remain fluid and open to continually learning, evolving, and adapting to various learning styles to provide effective edification. Specialize in organic chemistry tutoring.
