About Andrea
I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor's degree in both Elementary and Special Education. Upon completing my studies, I was fortunate to be hired immediately in January 2020. I hold a Bachelor's degree in General Education for grades K-8 and Special Education for grades K-12, along with a Reading Endorsement and a Middle Grades English Language Arts Endorsement. This strong educational foundation has equipped me with the skills to support a wide range of learners effectively.
For the past five years, I have worked as a teacher at the same school, focusing on Junior High Resource Reading, Special Education, and Reading Intervention. In addition to my full-time teaching role, I have gained one year of tutoring experience, providing in-person instruction to students who need extra support. My teaching philosophy centers around fostering a growth mindset and promoting positivity, as I believe these qualities are essential for student success. I enjoy identifying my students' unique learning needs, crafting individualized plans to address them, and celebrating their progress. The joy of seeing students make significant strides in their learning and witnessing their pride in their achievements is what drives my passion for teaching.
Throughout my career, I have consistently seen measurable improvement in my students' performance, thanks to a combination of personalized attention, a structured approach, and a nurturing environment. I keep my students informed about their areas of growth, ensuring that they are actively involved in their learning journey. This collaborative approach allows me to create an atmosphere where learning is enjoyable, motivating, and something students look forward to. Reading interventionist with 5 years of experience. Currently Teaching Tier III Reading Intervention to 7th & 8th graders. Tutoring students from 1st grade to 6th grade who have fallen behind grade level. Bachelor's in Special education k-12 and General Education K-8. Endorsements in middle grades English Language Arts and Reading. Experience teaching students with learning differences such as Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Disabilities. All students during the school day as well as students being tutored have been able to show significant growth in as little a Month of services. I believe in providing a positive learning environment with an emphasis on growth mindset strategies as well as positive reinforcement. I have experience teaching all grades and have no preference. I am trained in the accredited Reading program LETRS which is backed by the Science of Reading Association.
