I discover what the student is interested in and use it as a basis for our lessons. (sports, animals, etc.) I use activities and games relative to the skills being taught. We read short plays, word cards, board games, and anything else that works and leads to learning. Every student I have ever taught has gotten better in reading. Some even gain years of improvement and go to college. Basically, I do whatever works!!
