About Melanie
Hi! I’m a mom of three who loves helping kids actually get math. I’ve taught agriculture and animal science through the University of California Extension and before that worked as a Hedge Fund analyst, so I know both sides of math - hands-on and high-level. I’ve worked with students from kindergarten through high school, including kids with autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, and sensory challenges. My goal is to make math click through patience, curiosity, and real understanding — not memorized shortcuts. Now settled in West Petaluma, my husband and I foster infants with special needs, an experience that’s made me even more tuned in to how every child learns differently.

Hi! I’m a math tutor who brings real-life experience to the classroom; from teaching agriculture and animal husbandry through the University of California Extension to analyzing data at a leading hedge fund.
I’ve taught students from age 5 through teens, including those with autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, and sensory processing differences. My approach is patient, practical, and focused on true understanding - not just “Common Core tricks.”
I cover algebra, trigonometry, and calculus, helping students build confidence and actually ENJOY!!! problem-solving.
These days I live in West Petaluma with my husband and daughter, where we foster drug-exposed infants - a journey that’s deepened my empathy for every kind of learner.
And for the record - I wasn’t always the math whiz type. I dropped out my senior year, earned my GED, and rebuilt from scratch. Graduating from SFSU with a degree in Finance. Now I get to help others discover their own second chances with math.
