About Stas
I just recently quit my job as a Senior Software Engineer at one of the world's fastest growing search engines to pursue a CTO position with a friend & co-founder. While at Talent.com, I worked on the research & development department, floating between departments helping teams re-structure their code, refactor their architecture, and create more scalable systems as the company scaled up.
I got to experience a lot of real-world startup programming and saw how much it deviated from what is taught online and universities. I have also taken my knowledge beyond Talent and began consulting for my friends' companies, seeing how systems are written for web applications, mobile applications, cross platform apps, and so on.

The primary focus will be on real-world application of software engineering practices. Why exactly is the Singleton pattern considered an anti-pattern while it remains so heavily used? Why exactly would you break database normalization on purpose? What advantages would there be to using NoSQL at the beginning of a project, and what sort of issues will you face down the line as your application scales? Why should you add a queuing layer between your data ETL transformation layers? What are the best cache invalidation strategies? How do you increase concurrency and throughput while minimizing the impact of bottlenecks in your system?
Being self-taught, I have crawled the vast expanses of the internet to find the best tutorials and resources online to learn industry standard code. I will be able to provide you with resources for any subject you'd like to learn in depth, focusing our time together instead of helping you understand why certain programming practices exist, why things are done one way over another, and how you can start wrapping your head around growing into a Senior engineer on your own.

Perfect! I strongly recommend you Stas! He explains very well some hard concepts, he is patient and really wants you to succeed. He gave me a couple of ressources that will definitely make my futur coding projects easier. He also is a very fun guy and a great communicator.
- Frédéric has a deep curiosity to understand the nature underlying every line of code he writes/utilizes. A great student who is going to make quite the sought-after developer in the future. Pleased to have crossed paths with suck a talent developer so early in his career.Stas's response :
